Darrell Smart
Golf Course Superintendent
The son of a sailor, Darrell was born in Wakegan, IL . After serving two tours in the Vietnam War, his father retired in 1979 and moved Darrell and rest of the family back to his hometown of Muskogee. At a young age, Darrell found his love for sports and excelled in baseball and football. He also enjoys spending time outdoors, especially fishing and camping. In 1989 he graduated from Muskogee High School.
Darrell is a devoted father of two wonderful sons, Kanyon and Carson, and loving husband to Susan. He has spent most of his adult life coaching youth sports such as baseball, football and basketball, getting to know a lot of Muskogee’s youth and loving every
minute of it.
Now that his kids have outgrown youth sports, he revels in passing along his fishing skills to them and spending time every chance he gets on the boat or creek bank at the Baron Fork.
Darrell started working at Muskogee Country Club in 2003 and rose to 1st Assistant in 2008, honing in his skills under Derron Day and Keith Callery. His love of Muskogee Golf and Country Club’s tradition and tree lined fairways drives his hard work ethic towards making Muskogee Golf Club something the membership can be proud of. He is honored to have this opportunity to give back to the golf course and town he loves so much.
Darrell is a very approachable person and would love any feedback from the membership.
